Brad Pitt reportedly turned down $5 million for a public appearance to spend time with his children.

The ‘Burn After Reading’ star had been due to attend the Grand Prix Ball Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates on October 31, but failed to show up.

Photographs later revealed he had joined partner Angelina Jolie and their six children trick-or-treating for Halloween in Los Angeles.

A source told Life and Style magazine: “He’s spending more time with the family and doing less of these appearances, even though it’s a huge sum of cash.”

A spokesperson for the event – which featured performances from Beyonce Knowles, Aerosmith and Timbaland, and raised money for clean water charity Fresh2o – admitted Brad had been expected to attend and was unsure why he had shunned the huge appearance fee.

James Magee, a representative for Global Event Management, said: “We were told he would be attending as the guest of the Tourism Development and Investment Company. But he was a no-show, and nobody seemed to know why.”

Variety has reported that Brad Pitt’s production company signed a contract with Capcom to develop a movie based on Dark Void.

Pitt has signed on to play Dark Void’s main character, 1950s cargo pilot William Agustus Grey, who crash lands in the Bermuda Triangle and wakes up in a parallel universe. Though the timing feels somewhat early – the retro-sci-fi shooter isn’t even due out in North America until January 19th – Dark Void might be compelling enough for a film franchise. Grey and other survivors, including Nicola Tesla, contend against the Watchers, an alien race poised to take over our world. Oh, and there are jetpacks.

The early announcement might be a coup for films based on videogames as such movies don’t usually garner such A-list talent like Pitt. The fact that his company, Plan B, is producing the film as well may prove interesting. Plan B’s track record is pretty good with films such as Troy, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and The Departed under their belts.

Is it just me or is anyone else worried this movie going to suck as bad as The Rocketeer?

Brad Pitt’s company, Plan B, and Reliance Big Pictures have done up a deal with Capcom to develop a feature film based on the “Dark Void” game, potentially providing a starring role for Brad Pitt at the same time.

Capcom will release “Dark Void,” about a pilot who crash lands in the Bermuda Triangle following a routine mission and wakes up to find himself in an alternate world resembling a primitive earth where aliens with superior technology are planning to take over civilization, in North America and Europe in January next year.

Sweeet.

This is a new one from the geniuses at In Touch Weekly.

Rather than simply making up Brad Pitt-Jennifer Aniston rumors as they normally do (see Brad running back to her, or their secret meeting earlier this fall), the popular supermarket tabloid magazine is entering the prediction business.

Brad and Jen may not be back together yet, but according to In Touch intel, you can rest assured they will. The headline says it all: YES, THEY’LL REUNITE!

If that doesn’t convince you, we don’t know what will …

Whether that’s an older picture they used for the cover above, or an editing job even shadier than on Demi Moore’s photoshopped W cover, the brief teaser on the cover leaves little doubt that this reunion is totally legit this time.

As Angelina Jolie, whose war against Jennifer Aniston never ceases, is panicking about her “battered reputation,” Jen “waits for Brad” at a resort they love. Hot stuff.

You’ll have to pick up a hard copy at the store to read about the “big steps” she and Jen are taking together in L.A., because they haven’t posted the article online.

Our prediction, though, is that none of those steps have actually taken place. Call us crazy, but that’s the hunch we get after the 19th interation of this same cover.

ET has a candid look at Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie as they joined their celebrity peers at the Museum of Contemporary Art’s (MOCA) 30th Anniversary Gala in Los Angeles, Calif. on Saturday night.

The couple had some laughs as they followed their tour guide through the museum.

“It’s going to be an amazing night to look at the art,” actor Neil Patrick Harris said prior to the event. “And Lady Gaga is dancing with ballet people so that will be kind of crazy.”

Watch the video for more inside glimpses into Brad and Angie’s date night and for more artsy moments from the other stars who attended, including James Franco and Eva Mendes.

Irish star Pierce Brosnan joined Hollywood A-listers Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie at a private session with Lady Gaga in LA.

Brosnan, with his wife Keeley Shaye Smith, joined 1,000-plus special guests at the special party for the 30th anniversary of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles.

Brosnan hailed Lady Gaga’s performance of her new ballad, “Speechless,” which was part of a production masterminded by Italian artist Francesco Vezzoli and also included a performance from Russia’s famed Bolshoi Ballet.

The event raised nearly $4 million for MOCA — greatly helped by the sale of GaGa’s pink piano, which was designed by Internationally renowned English artist Damien Steven Hirst, one of the the most prominent members of the group known as “Young British Artists” who dominated the art scene in England during the 1990s. He is considered to be the world’s richest living artist.

The piano went for $450,000.

After the event, the Hollywood elite – including Gwen Stefani, Gavin Rossdale, Marisa Tomei, Guy Richie – joined Tom Ford and Nicky Hilton for the after party hosted by Prism Gallery, Dasha Zhukova and Pop magazine.

No bunnies for Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. When they agreed to design a limited-edition jewelry and baby collection for high-end international jeweler Asprey, they settled on a slightly more sinister motif: snakes.

Their jewelry line, in stores (including one on Madison Avenue) this week, includes a silver baby spoon, an eggcup, tooth box, as well as micropave diamond-encrusted pendants and rings, emblazoned with or shaped like a curving serpent, Women’s Wear Daily reports. Jolie latched on to the snake when she was given a ring while pregnant with her third child, Shiloh, and considers it a protective emblem.

Proceeds from “Protector” collection will go to one of Jolie’s charities, Education Partnership for Children of Conflict, which raises money to school child victims of war, conflict and natural disasters.
