Big-name stars? Definitely.
But big givers? Of that, there is even less doubt.
Angelina Jolie, 34, and Brad Pitt, 45, gave a whopping $6.8 million to charities in 2008, the Hollywood Reporter says.
That was the amount given to various groups through the philanthropically minded couple’s Jolie-Pitt Foundation, which donated about half of the $13 million it raised last year to nonprofits like Global Health, Human Rights Watch, the Armed Services YMCA, and Pitt’s own Make It Right Foundation, dedicated to rebuilding New Orleans.
Another $1 million went to various causes in Cambodia, home country for their son Maddox.

While you were paying thanks to your loved ones yesterday, many charities were thankful to Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.
Over the course of the last year, the superstar couple gave a total of $6.4 million in donations to various organizations – which doubles the amount they gave in the preceding year.
According to The Hollywood Reporter blog Showbiz 411, the recipients of the Jolie-Pitt Foundation’s handouts included Global Health (which received $2 million), Human Rights Watch (which received $1 million), and Brad’s own Make it Right Foundation (which got $1 million).
Brad and Angie are famous for calling attention to various causes and needy people around the world, but it turns out they also put their money where their mouths are. To boot, the couple didn’t have any sketchy loopholes in their foundation. Operating expenses for the Jolie-Pitt organization totaled just under $225,000, which is peanuts compared to other foundations, which often pay out their staff and sundry expenses in many times that amount.

Lost in Showbiz was almost too upset to come to the keyboard to type this, but I’m afraid there’s horrid news from the paradise that is Dubai. By paradise, I mean, of course, a Middle Eastern helldorado built by modern-day slaves, boasting a dismal human rights record, and unconstrained by such nuisances as democracy. And as I say, there’s trouble in it.
Specifically, the emirate finds itself financially embarrassed, its economy buckling under vast debt, with work having ground to a halt on projects such as that man-made archipelago in the shape of the map of the world. Are you feeling strong enough to go on? Because celebrities might suffer as a result of this.
The Beckhams and various Premier League footballers with property in the area have been touted as potential losers, though this column is far more desperate for news of Brad Pitt’s plans to design a luxury Dubai hotel. Remember that? As befits one half of the world’s hottest human rights spokescouple, architect manque Brad last year accepted a commission to get some of those migrant Afghans ghettoed out in the desert to throw up an 800-room “eco-resort” to his designs. (Warning: may not have been exact wording of press release.) “Selecting this development as my first major construction project has been a simple decision,” Brad explained, as though it weren’t the only such offer he’d ever received. “It will underpin not only my values for environmentally friendly architecture, but also embrace my career in entertainment.”
Yet will it? Alas, last December the developers who had tempted him on board announced they were “completely reassessing” that plan in light of the downturn, and the deepening economic crisis leaves Lost in Showbiz fearing the worst. All we can do is cross our fingers, safe in the knowledge that if Brad Pitt’s 800-room “Dubai eco- hotel” is ever built, it will instantly supplant Jeremy Bentham’s Panopticon as the most questionable structure to be dreamt up by a soi-disant liberal.

Anil Ambani’s Reliance Big Entertainment and Hollywood superstar Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment have joined forces with gaming leader Capcom to develop a feature film based on the game Dark Void. It follows a trend. Tomb Raider was a game adapted into a feature with Angelina Jolie and Resident Evil first became popular as a game before it was made into a film.
Pitt’s production company, under its creative partnership with Ambani’s entertainment wing, and Capcom, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, have come to terms on the film rights relating to Dark Void. The theatrical version of Dark Void is being developed as a sci-fi action franchise and may potentially star Pitt himself, though there is no confirmation on who the leading man ultimately will be.
Capcom will release Dark Void in Xbox 360 video game format and entertainment system from Microsoft PLAYSTATION-3 computer entertainment system and PC in North America on January 2010.
Dark Void is an adrenaline-fuelled blend of aerial and groundpounding combat which centres on Will, a pilot who crashlands in the Bermuda Triangle following a routine mission. Will wakes up to find himself in The Void, an alternate world resembling a primitive earth where aliens with superior technology are planning to take over civilisation. Together with a faction of humans who have disappeared into the Void, Will takes on the alien race using their own advanced technology to defeat them and keep order in the civilised world.
Reliance BIG Entertainment’s chairman Amit Khanna said, “Our creative partnership with Plan B has led to this agreement to develop Dark Void motion picture along with Capcom. We look forward to future projects from them.’’“Dark Void was developed with a wide-screen mentality, a world full of adventure presented in cinematic scope and scale,’’ Capcom Entertainment senior vice-president, licensing, Germaine Gioia said, “Plan B are as excited about bringing Dark Void to life in cinemas as Capcom is to bring the interactive experience to home theatres,’’ she added.

A shocking new tell-all about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie reports that “they’ve broken up so many times it would make your head spin.”
Brangelina: The Untold Story of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie reveals the truth behind some of the alleged bombshells about them, reports Us magazine.
It also claims Jolie “has a temper like a cobra.”
According to Us Weekly, the actress, 34, still has her battles with Pitt, 45 – especially when it comes to their six children.
“They fight all the time about the kids – where to put toys, saying the wrong thing to a nanny, not cleaning up,” a source told Us Weekly. “Like cats and dogs.” (ANI)

Brad Pitt reportedly turned down $5 million for a public appearance to spend time with his children.
The ‘Burn After Reading’ star had been due to attend the Grand Prix Ball Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates on October 31, but failed to show up.
Photographs later revealed he had joined partner Angelina Jolie and their six children trick-or-treating for Halloween in Los Angeles.
A source told Life and Style magazine: “He’s spending more time with the family and doing less of these appearances, even though it’s a huge sum of cash.”
A spokesperson for the event – which featured performances from Beyonce Knowles, Aerosmith and Timbaland, and raised money for clean water charity Fresh2o – admitted Brad had been expected to attend and was unsure why he had shunned the huge appearance fee.
James Magee, a representative for Global Event Management, said: “We were told he would be attending as the guest of the Tourism Development and Investment Company. But he was a no-show, and nobody seemed to know why.”

Variety has reported that Brad Pitt’s production company signed a contract with Capcom to develop a movie based on Dark Void.
Pitt has signed on to play Dark Void’s main character, 1950s cargo pilot William Agustus Grey, who crash lands in the Bermuda Triangle and wakes up in a parallel universe. Though the timing feels somewhat early – the retro-sci-fi shooter isn’t even due out in North America until January 19th – Dark Void might be compelling enough for a film franchise. Grey and other survivors, including Nicola Tesla, contend against the Watchers, an alien race poised to take over our world. Oh, and there are jetpacks.
The early announcement might be a coup for films based on videogames as such movies don’t usually garner such A-list talent like Pitt. The fact that his company, Plan B, is producing the film as well may prove interesting. Plan B’s track record is pretty good with films such as Troy, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and The Departed under their belts.
Is it just me or is anyone else worried this movie going to suck as bad as The Rocketeer?

Brad Pitt’s company, Plan B, and Reliance Big Pictures have done up a deal with Capcom to develop a feature film based on the “Dark Void” game, potentially providing a starring role for Brad Pitt at the same time.
Capcom will release “Dark Void,” about a pilot who crash lands in the Bermuda Triangle following a routine mission and wakes up to find himself in an alternate world resembling a primitive earth where aliens with superior technology are planning to take over civilization, in North America and Europe in January next year.

This is a new one from the geniuses at In Touch Weekly.
Rather than simply making up Brad Pitt-Jennifer Aniston rumors as they normally do (see Brad running back to her, or their secret meeting earlier this fall), the popular supermarket tabloid magazine is entering the prediction business.
Brad and Jen may not be back together yet, but according to In Touch intel, you can rest assured they will. The headline says it all: YES, THEY’LL REUNITE!
If that doesn’t convince you, we don’t know what will …
Whether that’s an older picture they used for the cover above, or an editing job even shadier than on Demi Moore’s photoshopped W cover, the brief teaser on the cover leaves little doubt that this reunion is totally legit this time.
As Angelina Jolie, whose war against Jennifer Aniston never ceases, is panicking about her “battered reputation,” Jen “waits for Brad” at a resort they love. Hot stuff.
You’ll have to pick up a hard copy at the store to read about the “big steps” she and Jen are taking together in L.A., because they haven’t posted the article online.
Our prediction, though, is that none of those steps have actually taken place. Call us crazy, but that’s the hunch we get after the 19th interation of this same cover.
