Brad Pitt didn’t escape completely unscathed from his minor motorcycle accident in Los Angeles over the weekend.
The dad of six, 45, showed off a few scratches while running errands in L.A. Monday afternoon.
Pitt was reportedly cut off by a paparazzi photographer when he fell off his bike. He was not seriously hurt, and was caught on camera saying “I’m fine!” after getting up.
For his Monday outing, he traded his two wheels for brand new Chevy Camaro.
December 1st is a big day for Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. It is the first day that copies of Brangelina Exposed come out.
Ian Halperin is the writer, who is also an investigative journalist and the number one seller of Unmasked: The Final Years of Michael Jackson.
rangelina Exposed will answer questions of how the couple has “successfully manipulated the public into believing a glamorous fairytale that bears little resemblance to the reality of the pair’s life together,” says a press release.
Halperin also speaks about Pitt’s marriage to Jennifer Aniston and the “real reason” for their split.
The writer also spills about Jolie’s past with “new details of her volatile relationship with and estrangement from her father Jon Voight, her struggles with suicidal impulses, her heroin use, her sexual exploit and her remarkable rise to become an Oscar-winning actress.”
Halperin will tell about “the key figure behind the scenes who orchestrated her makeover into a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador.”
But the book also points fingers, saying that not all is well.
“Jolie’s personal lifestyle choices are not only affecting her growing family,” the release says, “but causing serious and potentially irreparable tensions with Pitt.”
HOLLYWOOD super-couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have come to blows yet again — because he wants the actress to put their family before her career.
Brad is said to be furious that Angelina backtracked on her promise to take some time off to look after the couple’s six kids and has gone back to work.
“She says she wants to put her family first — but when a good role comes along, she forgets all that. Brad thinks she’s being selfish,” a source told In Touch Weekly magazine.
“Angelina is throwing herself into work as a way not to dwell on her crumbling relationship with Brad.
“Pretending to be someone else for 14 hours a day makes her problems feel less real.”
It was recently claimed that Pitt and Jolie are struggling to control Maddox, 8; Pax, 5; Zahara, 4; Shiloh, 3; and 15-month-old twins Knox and Vivienne
“They have dinner around 11 p.m. And it’s a real smorgasbord of snacks — cheese and crackers, chips, grapes and chocolate,” a source said earlier this month.
“They all sleep in Brad and Angie’s bed. And the kids wear whatever they want. Sometimes Zahara falls asleep in her Sleeping Beauty dress, which has permanent chocolate milk stains on it.
“Maddox and Pax are double trouble. They have every sort of toy known to man, including paint guns, which they splatter all over the walls of the house.
“Maddox tends to get special treatment. It was his idea to pierce Vivienne’s ears. After he said he wanted to do it himself with a pin, Angie decided to have it done professionally.
“Brad is starting to get tougher… he does tell them ‘no’ and holds them accountable for their actions. The trouble is they just run to Mom, and she caves. She doesn’t want her kids to have that kind of life… she gives them their freedom because she wants their ‘souls to evolve.’”
Just a few days ago, reports came in that Brad Pitt had purchased a new motorcycle to add to his growing collection. It seems the star and father of six has already been involved in an accident.
A variety of conflicting reports are coming in:
• Sources tell E! News that the incident wasn’t much of an accident, but rather Pitt’s mirror nicked the mirror of an adjacent car and he lost balance on his bike. His motorcycle reportedly wouldn’t start after it fell to the ground, so the star called his security team for a lift. The source says the other car involved in the mix-up belonged to the paparazzi, but it was Pitt who got too close.
• TMZ says, “We’re told Brad tried to maneuver his bike between a parked car and a car stopped at a red light, and his handlebars clipped the parked car. We’re told he lost control and fell over — and everything is fine.”
• New York Daily News reports, “Brad Pitt clipped a parked car while riding his motorcycle in Los Angeles and took a spill – but don’t worry ladies, he’s fine. The “Inglourious Basterds” star tried to maneuver between a parked car and another car stopped at a red light when his handlebars hit the parked car, causing him and the heavy bike to fall over, witnesses said. After he fell, Pitt got up, moved the motorcycle to the side of the road and ran into an apartment building. Someone picked him up a short time later, sources said, and a tow truck picked up the bike.
• Finally, Radar Online says, “Brad Pitt took a fall off a motorcycle in Los Angeles Saturday morning. The actor was driving through Hollywood on his prized new machine — seen in this photograph taken just hours earlier — when the incident occurred. Pitt was reportedly hit from behind by a photographer. That put Brad just enough off balance that he then rear-ended a car in front of him as he tried to put distance between himself and the errant pap. Pitt and his bike went down. Fortunately Brad did not appear to be injured and he pulled his motorcycle to the side of the street. An assistant picked him up a few minutes later. that their reporter witnessed the minor mash-up, stating that a paparazzo bumped Pitt’s bike from behind, forcing his motorcycle into the rear of the car ahead. Pitt reportedly kept his cool in the aftermath, even interacting with onlookers.
All reports and photos seem to indicate the accident was minor, Pitt was polite, and that he exchanged insurance information with the person who owned the car he hit. The celebrity called a friend with a pick up truck and ramp, and the men hauled the damaged bike away.
Brad Pitt has a large motorcycle collection, and this week it has gotten even larger.
Both he and Angelina Jolie, lovely girlfriend and mother of his children, share a sense of adventure and value their personal freedom.
While Pitt has been spotted regularly out and about on his bike, Jolie has not yet been seen with him. However, the celebrity babe has not complained about her beau’s decision to buy or ride.
Live free or die, right? Or at least, ride with a helmet and stay safe and boast a Cheshire cat grin like Brad does when he talks about the feeling he gets when riding one of his many unique and custom bikes.
Here’s a great piece from the new issue of The Atlantic talking about all the experiments in green, affordable housing springing up in hurricane-devastated New Orleans. Bizarrely, the actor Brad Pitt is a huge player in this market. Sounds like he’s doing a lot of good there, though I personally side with the rebuilding aesthetic and ethic pushed by Andres Duany, who doesn’t go for the modernist and/or non-local-vernacular designs favored by those surrounding Pitt. Duany hits on a brilliant observation about New Orleans in this passage:
“When I originally thought of New Orleans, I was conditioned by the press to think of it as an extremely ill-governed city, full of ill-educated people, with a great deal of crime, a great deal of dirt, a great deal of poverty,” said Duany, who grew up in Cuba. “And when I arrived, I did indeed find it to be all those things. Then one day I was walking down the street and I had this kind of brain thing, and I thought I was in Cuba. Weird! And then I realized at that moment that New Orleans was not an American city, it was a Caribbean city. Once you recalibrate, it becomes the best-governed, cleanest, most efficient, and best-educated city in the Caribbean. New Orleans is actually the Geneva of the Caribbean.”
Duany said that many of the shotgun houses in New Orleans were built by the fathers and grandfathers of people living in them today, and few of them meet building codes. But no one worries about paying mortgages or insurance. “The situation is that the housing is essentially paid off, and it allows people to accumulate leisure,” he said. “What’s special about New Orleans is that it’s the only place in the United States where you can have a first-rate urban life for very little money.” What happened after Katrina, Duany said, was that FEMA and others came to town with detailed requirements for record-keeping and property titles, then insisted on stringent building codes that would make all the houses hurricane-proof. This might seem like common sense, he said, but it’s “essentially unworkable for a Caribbean city.”
So the central problem, according to Duany: “All the do-goody people attempting to preserve the culture are the same do-gooders who are raising the standards for the building of houses, and are the same do-gooders who are giving people partial mortgages and putting them in debt,” he said. “They have such a profound misunderstanding of the culture of the Caribbean that they’re destroying it. The heart of the tragedy is that New Orleans is not being measured by Caribbean standards. It’s being measured by Minnesota standards.”
I’m going to have to think about that for a while: New Orleans as a Caribbean city. More broadly, you could think of South Louisiana, even the non-Cajun parts, as essentially Mediterranean. This is especially visible in the non-Cajun parts, such as where I grew up. Most of us were Protestant, but boy, did we feel different from North Louisiana.
Anyway, this from the article is the best definition of sustainabilty I’ve ever seen:
Two years ago, at a conference on traditional building held at the New Orleans convention center, the architect and New Urbanist Steve Mouzon asked a crowd of contractors and architects to think about a basic point. “The very core of sustainability,” he said, “can be found in a simple question: ‘Can it be loved?’”
Think about that as you’re driving around your town, city or suburb today. Look at the buildings around you and think about which ones can be loved, and which ones can’t. The ones that can be loved are the ones likely to be there 50 years from now. Here in Dallas, we’ve just opened a couple of big, expensive, starchitect-designed arts buildings. I’ve not been to either, but neither one looks especially lovable. Cool, but not lovable.
Brad Pitt and George Clooney could be battling it out for a forthcoming political role, if Mayor of London Boris Johnson has his way.
Attending the Bright Star premiere at the London Film Festival, the Conservative politician was asked who he’d like to play him in a biopic – and said Brad would be number one choice followed by Up In The Air star George.
He joked: “It’s this guy Brad Pitt isn’t it, the obvious contender – and if he’s not available then Clooney.”
Boris also said up-and-coming actors could draw inspiration from poet John Keats, who is played by Ben Whishaw in Bright Star.
“John Keats is a classic example – young guy, came from nowhere, he had no preparation for the fame he discovered,” said the former Have I Got News For You presenter. “A man of unbelievable talent inspired by great literary works – in the same way we want to inspire young Londoners with film, that’s why we’re promoting it across London (with the film festival) and doing all the things we’re doing.”
