Brad Pitt will star in an untitled romantic thriller for Paramount with Robert Zemeckis directing from a Steve Knight script.
Graham King, who developed the project, is producing alongside Zemeckis and Steve Starkey. The project will be produced through King’s GK Films banner with New Regency. Executive producers are Jack Rapke, Knight, Patrick McCormick and Denis O’Sullivan.
The logline for Knight’s script is being kept under wraps.
Pitt was last seen in “Fury” and recently finished filming “By the Sea” with spouse Angelina Jolie, who’s starring and directing.
Zemeckis’ directing credits at Paramount include 1994’s “Forrest Gump” and 2012’s “Flight.” He is in post-production on “The Walk,” starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Philippe Petit as he crossed the Twin Towers on a tightrope, which is set for an October release from Sony.
King and Knight are also partnered on the action-thriller “The Red Circle,” a remake of the French film “Le Cercle Rouge,” reset in Hong Kong. Knight wrote the script and is producing under GK Films.
Knight’s credits include “The Hundred-Foot Journey” and “Dirty Pretty Things.”He also directed Tom Hardy in “Locke.”
King produced “Rango” and “The Departed.”
Brad Pitt and Sandra Bullock are attached to star in the UNTITLED WAR OF THE ROSES PROJECT. The currently untitled War of the Roses style divorce comedy follows a couple who host a HSN/QVC show who trudge through their divorce on air. Pitt and Bullock will play the male and female lead, respectively.
The project is currently in development, and will be produced by Pitt and Dede Gardner for Plan B Entertainment. Brad Weston and Pam Abby will oversee for New Regency, while Sarah Esberg will oversee production. The A-list comedy is currently OWA.
Pitt recently starred in Fury and executive produced the upcoming drama True Story, starring Jonah Hill and James Franco. Up next, he’ll star in By the Sea and The Big Short. He’ll also produce an astounding number of films, including The Lost City of Z and Anonymous vs. Steubenville.
Bullock most recently starred in the Oscar-nominated Gravity, opposite George Clooney. The Oscar winner will next lend her voice to the Despicable Me spinoff Minions and will star in the comedy Our Brand Is Crisis. She’s also producing the Christmas comedy Jingle and executive producing the Untitled Pamela Falk/Michael Ellis Project.
Bullock is repped by CAA. Pitt is repped by CAA and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
DEADLINE EXCLUSIVE: Here is a film that instantly becomes the one every studio will want on their slate. Angelina Jolie is in early talks to star with Brad Pitt in an original script that she has written. It’s in the early talking stages and nothing is solidified, but I hear it’s happening. I don’t know a lot more at this point.
The film hasn’t locked distribution, but it will team Jolie and Pitt together for the first time since 2005?s Mr. And Mrs. Smith. That film displayed an intense chemistry onscreen, and this was before they became a couple offscreen. Jolie is working on post-production on Unbroken, the adaptation she directed of the Laura Hillenbrand book. Universal has set a December 25 release for the harrowing survival tale of Olympic track prodigy-turned-WWII POW Lou Zamperini. It’s expected to be right in the Oscar mix. Unbroken was a hotly contested directing project, and Jolie won the job with a presentation that wowed the studio, where Donna Langley also was very impressed with her directorial debut, In The Land Of Blood And Honey. She next stars in Disney’s Maleficent, which opens May 30 with Jolie playing the title character in the revisionist version of the fairy tale.
Will reveal more when I know it. Pitt is coming off 12 Years A Slave and most recently wrapped the David Ayer-directed WWII tank movie Fury, which QED produced and Sony is releasing. Stay tuned. She is repped by UTA and Media Talent Group Pitt by CAA and Brillstein Entertainment.
To kick off the Movie section from BradPittWeb (as I’m still working on it, got so much to add!), I’ve added some stills from the upcoming movie “Cogan’s Trade”, the release is set to September 21.
Here’s an article from Moviefone:
Brad Pitt had such good luck when “Moneyball” was released on Sept. 23, 2011, it seems The Weinstein Company is hoping lightning strikes twice. The studio has set “Cogan’s Trade,” with Pitt in a lead role, for Sept. 21, 2012.
In the film, Pitt plays Cogan, a mob enforcer on the trail of two junkies who robbed a mob-backed card game. (You might remember how that went down for some very foolhardy thugs on “The Sopranos.”) In a nice twist, Tony Soprano himself, James Gandolfini, as well as mob-movie veteran Ray Liotta are on board as well.
According to Slashfilm, Gandolfini will play “a washed-up, alcoholic, hard-up-for-cash hit man who was brought on by Jackie (Pitt) to do the first job he’s done in a long time but proves to be more of a liability.”
The movie is based on the 1974 novel of the same name by George V. Higgins, who also wrote “The Friends of Eddie Coyle,” which became an underrated mob pic starring Robert Mitchum and Peter Boyle.
“Cogan’s Trade” reteams Pitt with Andrew Dominik, who directed him in “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.” The film also costars Richard Jenkins and Sam Shepard.
