Hollywood power couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have called Zimbabwe’s Premier Morgan Tsvangirai to offer condolences over his wife’s death in a car crash, an aide told reporters Monday.
“He didn’t manage to speak to them because the line was disconnected,” the premier’s aide told reporters at Tsvangirai’s home, speaking on condition of anonymity.
The couple are active in charity work around the world, but have no apparent links to Zimbabwe in particular. Jolie gave birth to one of their children in nearby Namibia and they have adopted a little girl from Ethiopia, among their six children.
Given Brad Pitt’s high-profile activism, it may not have seemed too curious that he and Nancy Pelosi met with each other in Washington, D.C., Thursday, but it no doubt piqued people’s curiosity. After all, it’s not every day you get to see a Hollywood heavyweight mixing it up with the Speaker of the House.
“I just want to say thank you to the Speaker for opening up the doors to let us come in and discuss the current rebuilding effort going on in New Orleans,” Pitt said during a press conference following their meeting on behalf of the actor’s Make It Right project. Nancy Pelosi’s office says Brad Pitt is set to meet with the Speaker of the House on Thursday to discuss the 45-year-old actor’s charity efforts in New Orleans.
Pitt founded “Make It Right” in 2007 to help build environmentally sustainable housing for low-income residents in New Orleans who lost their homes during Hurricane Katrina. He was nominated for a best-actor Oscar for “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.”

Jennifer Aniston can’t seem to escape questions about her marriage to Brad Pitt. It’s been almost four years since Aniston and Pitt split, and the actress continues to set the record straight on her past marriage.
“No matter what I say, things will always be taken out of context and misinterpreted, will always be turned around to make it seem as though I won’t let something go, or that I just keep talking about it over and over,” Aniston said, prefacing her comments about her 2005 split with Pitt, during a new interview in the April issue of Elle UK.
